Award for the Bachelor thesis by Carla Friedrich

Carla Friedrich was awarded the prize for an excellent thesis for her bachelor thesis "The digitization of brick-and-mortar retail - an analysis of the local online platforms in North Rhine-Westphalia" by the "Arbeitskreis Geographische Handelsforschung"".
Local online platforms are designed to provide retailers in a city with a digital platform away from Amazon & Co. and help them stay competitive in the digital world. The characteristics can vary widely from a digital shop window to a fully functional local online shop.
In the bachelor thesis, the local online platforms in NRW were examined using key indicators in a desktop research. Carla Friedrich analyzed the distribution of the platform in NRW, the number of visitors to the website and the retailers represented on the platform.
