On behalf of the city of Baesweiler a retail management was conducted for the local urban retail. Strategies and concepts were developed based on a comprehensive examination and evaluation of the existing retail and vacancy structure. These include the identification of potential commercial users and occupants, the development of temporary uses as well as several suggestions for specific actions and activities in the downtown of Baesweiler.
The process was closely coordinated with local participants. Three workshops with various focus groups (retail business owners and real estate owners, customers and inhabitants as well as local authorities) were held.
Based on these analyses numerous instruments and measures were figured out for an effective urban retail management. Finally, recommendations were given to implement the findings of the study.
